JAZZ: Trump’s Journey is a fantastic new platformer from developer Egg Ball and publisher BulkyPix. It’s a very unique platformer with gorgeous aesthetics, upbeat music, and solid gameplay. The platforming itself is fairly standard, but the setting and themes make this game stand above most recent releases in the genre. There are very few issues with this title, though they do exist, and in the end it’s just very well made. more »
Cytus is a new music and rhythm game from Rayark Inc. Rather than trying to cram some pre-existing music game onto the iPhone, this one was built from the ground up to be played with a touch screen. It offers beautiful minimalist design and aesthetics, a great selection of songs, and is generally just a fun experience for music game veterans and novices alike. However, it does have its fair share of questionable design choices and flaws. more »
Smash Cops is a great new action arcade title from Hutch Games. It puts you behind the driver’s seat of various squad cars as a cop who doesn’t take any crap from anyone. It features great graphics, a cool concept, a unique control scheme, and is just a well made, fun to play, destruction filled romp. more »
Urban Crime is Gameloft’s latest freemium experiment, this time focusing on the same kind of gameplay as their Gangstar series of Grand Theft Auto emulations. I’m not going to beat around the bush with this one. This is probably the worst game Gameloft has ever put out. It’s full of bugs and glitches and looks like it was thrown together in a weekend. It completely misses everything that make open world sandbox games fun in the first place, and all in all it just feels exceedingly lazy. Even the title is one of the plainest crime-related titles I’ve seen. more »
Development studios Xoobis and publisher Chillingo have teamed up yet again to bring us a sequel to their undead killing party, Zombie Wonderland, simply titled Zombie Wonderland 2: Outta Time. Everyone’s favorite janitor/zombie slayer hybrid Chuck makes a big return to the App Store, and he’s brought with him a bigger arsenal, more zombies than ever, and even time travel! It’s a more polished and balanced iteration on the first game that doesn’t change too much, which is likely to please many fans. more »
Run Roo Run is the latest game from development studio 5th Cell. They’ve always worked to create unique and original titles with high accessibility, and most of you probably know them as the people who brought us Scribblenauts Remix. This latest gem follows the same patterns, with creative gameplay, beautiful cartoony visuals, and a wide range of audience accessibility. more »
Star Marine: Infinite Ammo is a new side scrolling shoot-em up from Glitchsoft, the same people who birthed the Destructopus. It’s very clearly an homage to shoot-em up legend, Contra, featuring very similar controls and making use of similar retro graphics. It’s a well-made game, and while it isn’t flawless, it’s definitely worth a look. more »
Scribblenauts has finally made it to iOS devices in Scribblenauts Remix. Moving the series from a DS touchscreen with a stylus to an iPhone touchscreen feels like a natural progression, and a great move on the part of Warner Bros. This is a great entry in the series. more »
