Not since 2007 have we seen acclaimed action director John Woo step into the polygonal worlds of gaming, with John Woo's Stranglehold, a surprisingly excellent third person shooter. Well the man is back in gaming with his mobile debut, Bloodstroke, an over the top action game from developer MoonShark. These are the same guys who brought us Stan Lee's Verticus. That's quite the celebrity pedigree for any developer to have. But how does Bloodstroke hold up? Let's cut into it, shall we? more »

When Apple chose Rayman Jungle Run as iOS Game of the Year of 2012, it was one of the few times I was in total agreement with them. Having played the console Rayman: Origins with my friends until our eyes bled, I was already a fan. What drew me into Origins were the unique world, crisp art style, and bizarre music, alongside the great platforming and a cooperative design that kept you from destroying your friendships while playing. I’ve not played Rayman Legends yet, but with all that under their belt Ubisoft and Ubi-art created quite the name to live up to with their follow up game and sequel, Rayman Fiesta Run. Luckily for them, they succeeded. Looking for even more running games? Try these. more »

Angry Birds, for all its legions of avian adoring fans, is oft maligned by more critical gamers for being essentially the same game again and again. I disagree with my traditional gamer brethren in this case. I thought each iteration of the games brought novel changes and kept things entertaining, whether by gravity mechanics in Angry Birds Space, or excessive fan service and awesomeness in the Angry Birds Star Wars games. Well, the latest Angry Birds game finally brings something new to the franchise, in the form of downhill kart racing. I give you Angry Birds Go! more »

In a time when I thought all tilt controlled games were clunky and gimmicky, there was one game to prove me wrong. An iOS classic if there ever was one, Tilt to Live from One Man Left was one of the smoothest tilt controlled games of its time, and remains fun to play to this day with frequent updates. Well, it's been quite a few years since then, and One Man Left is here with an official sequel, and it's redonkulous! No, really. The name is Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous. more »

iOS gamers have never enjoyed the pleasure of playing the acclaimed and unique runner, BIT.TRIP RUNNER, a WiiWare, Nintendo DS, and Steam title with multiple awards under its belt. Gaijin Games has quite the impressive library of titles, though before now we've only had the great BIT.TRIP BEAT on the App Store. Well, they've skipped BIT.TRIP RUNNER and just ported the sequel. Originally called Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien… we can just call it BIT.TRIP RUN! more »

CSR Racing from NaturalMotion Games was one of those unexpected drive away hits that we get so often on the app store. They managed to capture that mysterious lightning in a bottle and stand out among the thousands of freemium games out there, topping some charts along the way. If you apply a freemium pricing model, with a premium currency along with a gas tank that limits the amount of races you can do each day, to a simple drag racing mini-game, you pretty much have CSR Racing. So how does the sequel, CSR Classics, change things up? Classic cars. That's about it. more »

The Infinity Blade series has become one of the most iconic iOS 'mascot' games out there, and for good reason. It's a highly polished, innovative fighting game that is constantly imitated but never duplicated. And I mean that, clichés aside. Every other swipe combat game fails to feels as fluid and functional as the one brought forth by Chair. With iOS 7 and the iPhone 5S comes Infinity Blade III, and the series is anything but stale at this point, with more variety and polish than ever. more »

With the advent of iOS 7, two of the biggest gaming franchises on the App Store have graced us with big time sequels. One of those franchises is, of course, Angry Birds, with Angry Birds Star Wars II, and just when you think they surely must be completely running out of ideas, Rovio brings out one of the most varied Angry Bird games to date. This one takes place during the prequel trilogy, which I hold no love for, but in something like Angry Birds, the silliness that is the prequel trilogy actually works wonderfully. more »
