Vonage VOIP App Approved By Apple

This is amazing! More and more VOIP apps are being allowed into the app store! Fring, Skype, and now Vonage along with many more to come. In a short press release today, Vonage announced that Apple had approved their VOIP app for the App Store.

HOLMDEL, N.J., Sept 01, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ — Vonage (NYSE: VG) has announced that Apple approved its mobile application for iPhone and iPod Touch. Vonage is currently conducting a beta test and general availability will be announced at a later date.

Like many VOIP applications, it will probably suffer the same Wi-Fi only restriction that other VOIP apps do. I know that I can’t wait until Apple and AT&T allow us to use VOIP apps over 3G but until then, we will just have to hope and dream.
