WarFare Incorporated is a very popular real time strategy game that has been ported over to the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game may not have the most amazing graphics to hit your device, but it definitely handles like a full fledged RTS.
Starting off with the basics, this game includes a 20 mission story mode to submerse you into the game and teach you all about it. You?ll be able to experience all 22 unit and structure types as well as two different landscapes. Once you?ve burned through those 20 levels, you?ll be happy to find out that there are over 200 add-on missions made by the community that you can download directly to your device. If you decide you want to make your own missions, you can do so by visiting their forum and downloading the toolkit. Thanks to all these user made missions, this game really doesn?t have to end.
WarFare Incorporated handles like the RTS games we all know and love. The only issue is there?s no way to hotkey any of your troops together. This can be frustrating when you?re trying to launch a massive attack. Besides that one issue, the game runs pretty well. The mini map in the bottom corner makes it easy to zoom in to different parts of the map very quickly, so you won?t have to worry about scrolling all over the screen. Tapping on a unit will give you control of it and double tapping will select all troops of that type on the screen. To access advanced features of each building, tap and hold to see new menu options.
This game is really great and considering they?re going to be incorporating a 2-4 player mode in the near future on the iPhone and iPod Touch, this could really be a must have title. With all the extra content and the fact that the game mechanics don?t feel dumbed down at all, this is definitely a must have app for the RTS gamers out there.
