Adrenaline Golf Online is a mini-golf game that boasts top-notch graphics, boatloads of content and a full-featured online mode. The application carries out its promises to deliver one of the best putt-putt games in the App Store to date.

The developer of the game really focuses on the graphics of the game and claims it to be “the first 3D game using the 3GS graphic power,” and I must say, it delivers. There are 72 beautifully landscaped levels containing anything from tikis and huts to volcanoes and windmills. Each level is its own island, surrounded by realistic water complete with waves and reflections.

Three modes are present among four environments: (1) Classic mode plays exactly as it sounds. You put the ball into the hole in as few shots as possible. (2) Star Hunter requires you collect several stars scattered throughout the course to activate the hole-opening mechanism. (3) The Crazy Challenge mode allots you a certain number of strokes to complete an entire 18-hole round but adds on strokes with every completed level. The online multiplayer works similarly to the Classic mode but includes stars in each level that can be picked up by other players and sent to an opponent, turning his or her ball into a box.

Two different control schemes, based on your level of skill, are available. The beginner’s scheme has you tap a meter to choose the percentage of power to use. The second control option, for the more advanced player, dictates a swipe of the finger that determines the power level. Both options have you tap and drag to choose the desired direction of the ball before hitting it. Both are easy to pick up, and they add to the variety of the game.

The background music is very well composed. It adds a level of relaxation that otherwise wouldn’t be present. It fits the game really nicely.

I couldn’t find too much wrong with this one. Some of the levels are just a little difficult, and the physics could be improved a bit more, but overall it’s an enjoyable game. The groundbreaking graphics, hours upon hours worth of content and soothing sounds set a new standard for games of this nature. The medium price is definitely justified and should not deter you from purchasing this truly amazing application.
