Ambush is an app that was made to bring the experience of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to the iPhone. This app works in tandem with the terminatorambush.com website to allow you to start a battle between man and machine. This app is really only for those heavily interested in the show and for people who enjoy ARG's based on tv shows.
To even use the app, you need to register with the website. The registration process can't be done on the iPhone, so you'll have to use a regular computer. This is really frustrating when you want to try a new app out and you're not near your computer. Once you've registered, you enter in your username and password into the app and there you go. Now all you get to do is set a trap and update your location.
The rest of the game gets really confusing from here.
Apparently the people playing online can track you and attempt to kill you, earning them points? Considering there is nothing listed on the actual app but the ability to send your location and drop a bomb, it doesn't even matter. You're basically a mouse in a game that chances are few people are actually playing.
Incorporating the iPhone in an ARG is a great idea. Ambush, however, is a bad idea. The game doesn't really allow you to do anything on your iPhone. You're just another sensor moving around on the screen of those people playing online. The game is so slow paced online that it isn't even worth giving it a try without the iPhone app. Epic fail.
