Ancient Tribe is a somewhat different game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The whole idea of the game is that you play a God of an ancient tribe who needs to help them grow and gather resources so their village can grow. You must direct your villagers towards food while trying to keep them alive in the process. As you gather resources, you can then build up by recruiting different types of villagers that specialize in different things. The hunting aspect of the game plays out like an RTS game with the need too select villagers and guide them to either attack or move to a point.
Aside from just improving your villagers, you can also upgrade your God powers which will allow you to provide supernatural assistance to your villagers while they are on the hunt. While I wasn't able to finish the game during my time alotted for reviews, I did get a pretty godd picture of what the game was all about. After a few tries, the game became pretty monotonous feeling like I was doing the same thing over and over again only with stronger units. The actual hunting aspect of the game became annoying when my villagers weren't smart enough to move around each other and ended up walking back and forth while another villager was getting his face ripped apart.
The game is a step in an interesting direction for the iPhone but overall it just didn't have enough staying power for me personally. It was fun for a bit and because of that I will recommend checking it out. It has a cheaper price in the app store and will keep some players out there entertained for a while. Just don't expect anything game changing
