Animoto is an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you to make your own slideshow music videos on the go. This app is a really cool idea that works very well and for once the limitations and direction the developers decided to go in make sense.
The app is broken down into two tabs that you?ll need to focus on: Create Video and My Videos. Create Video is really the core of this app and the reason behind using it, so be prepared to do some work. When you click that button you?ll be brought to the photos on your device. You can?t take any live pictures which is makes sense as you can use eight to sixteen pictures in your video and this app is more for after the fact then spur of the moment. Tap each picture you want to include in a video then press next.
After the pictures are all selected you?ll be able to choose from the music that Animoto supplies. You?ll be selecting from lesser known artists but most of the music is actually really cool regardless of whether you?ve heard it before. After you pick your tunes you can rename your slideshow and send it out to be made. The process is all automated at this point and does take around 15 minutes, but once it?s ready you can stream it right through the app.
The only issues with this app revolve around the length of the video and the music. With the slideshow being only 16 pictures long and no way for you to decide where you start in the song, the part of the song that caught your attention might be cut off because of the length. Overall Animoto is a great app that allows you to create some cool music videos with your pictures. More customization would be great but wouldn?t be too feasible at this point. Considering this app is free, definitely check it out!
