Backyard Baseball is a sporta game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Just like Backyard Soccer, this app takes its graphical styling from its namesake but leaves everything else behind.

This game is all arcade style homerun derby. When you swing the bat, you either hit the ball or you don?t. There?s no distance or power to your swing, just direction. The direction does come into play big time as all along the baseline you?ll see different signs that you need to hit in order to get a single, double, triple, or homerun.

As the game progresses, you?ll find that there are empty spots which can easily result in an instant out. You?ve got three outs per inning and you?re playing through multiple innings to get your score up there before it?s time to hang up your bat. The only skill in this game is learning when to swing the bat in order to get it where you want it to go.

Just like Backyard Soccer, this game is a disappointment. There have been baseball games on the iPhone and iPod Touch already, so why did they drop the ball here? Don?t waste your time or money on this app, it gets boring fast. Hopefully, we?ll see this franchise get it?s stuff together and make an actual game that lives up to what we?ve grown to expect.
