Backyard Soccer is a sports game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game is modeled after the whole Backyard series of games, but has very little in common besides the graphical style.

In this game, you simply make corner kicks to one of three team mates who will then shoot into the net. The first level makes this entire process pretty easy as there is only one person covering each of your team mates with the net wide open, but the later levels do add in a goalie which does make things a good deal more difficult.

This game is really just about timing. You?ll have to time when you can tap on the specific team mate to pass it to them in order to get it past the goalie as well. You gain points for each goal you make, but you lose points for getting blocked. You lose more points for directly hitting an opponent as the corner kicker than anything else, so keep that in mind when you start timing things.

Backyard Soccer is a pretty disappointing game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. We?ve already seen full-fledged soccer games hit the app store, so why not release a cartoony version just like we?re all use to? Regardless of your interest in this franchise, avoid this game and save your money for when they decide to try again and actually get it right.
