The classic game of Bejeweled has made its way to the iPhone in Bejeweled 2. There are plenty of great game modes for you to play through and it definitely has an excellent selection of background imagery for you to look at as you blast through this addictive puzzle game.
Loading the app up provides you with three game modes: Classic, Action, and Endless. Classic gives you a specific goal that you have to achieve points wise in a set amount of time. Action gives you a similar goal, except instead of watching the timer tick by, your score which helps you achieve the next level will continue to drop. In endless theres not time limit, it's simply you against the jewels until you get bored.
Behind each puzzle there is a high quality image of a surreal landscape.

These images are really good looking and add a lot to the game visually. There isn't anything too spectacular about moving gems around, so Pop Cap made a great choice in adding a little bit of style to this game through the backgrounds.
Chances are you've played Bejeweled before. If you haven't, it's a simple puzzle game where you can only switch gems around to make rows of three or more. It can be very addictive and enjoyable, but it is definitely a typical cell phone game. Nothing has really been added to this version to make it a must have iPhone app.

Pop Cap Games has more of my money now

I wasn't one of those people who played a lot of Bejeweled on their computers. I played it some, but I never quite got into it. Then Pop Cap released it on Xbox Live Arcade, I downloaded it, and I saw what everyone was talking about after I realized that I'd played it for 3 hours straight. The Xbox 360 version of Bejeweled 2 is the one I know best, so I was preparing for a pretty stripped-down version for the iPhone. Turns out I didn't need to worry.

Yes, the iPhone version omits some of the longer, more complicated modes, but the basic, addictive, massively time-wasting experience of the Xbox 360 version is here, in the feel, the visuals, and the audio. If you're one of those strange people who doesn't like Bejeweled, this game probably won't change your mind. If you're an addict like me, well... you've probably already bought it.
