Music games can be found all over the app store from the different Tap Tap games to the larger branded Guitar Hero and Rockband. Along with these big-name games comes the smaller games like Bit Trip Beat. Bit Trip Beat is all about following the rhythm of the song.
All the music is in a chiptune-like format with crazy sounds and even crazier 8-bit graphics. The game plays like a rhthym-driven version of pong where balls are thrown at you at different speeds according to the beat. It’s your job to tilt the device to make your paddle hit each ball when it reaches. Traditional music features apply like power modes which will earn you more points and the dreaded black and white mode which lets you know you are about to lose if you don’t pull through.
Overall, the game was fun after I got into it but the music could easily get on your nerves if you’re not careful. This is definitely the type of game you play to see how far you can get. Check it out.
