Bouncer is a straightforward game. The goal is to get your orange Bouncer (ball) into a green Glutton (mouth). To get from where you are to where you need to be, you use your finger to draw a line that the ball will roll along. There are spikes and mines you have to dodge and kids that need collecting. If you get stuck, just flick your iphone and you can bounce your ball upwards.
Your goal is complicated a bit because you can only have one line on the screen at a time. It can be a little difficult to control the ball inside tight spaces when you need it to fall or bounce up.
Lines can also only be made up of a certain number of dots. When your finger is held down dots are being drawn (they make up the line). If you pull your finger across the screen quickly the line will stay fairly long, but if you move your finger across the screen slowly a much shorter line will stay on the screen.
This means it doesn't pay to take your time drawing a line: draw the line quickly and think about what you'll be doing next.
The ball doesn't start moving until you draw the first line, so you have some time to plan your attack. Once you put your finger on the screen the ball will start dropping; you have to move quickly and precisely (almost ninja-like) to not hit any obstacles.
If you do hit an obstacle, your ball starts back at the beginning of the level and you have to try again. I never made it to a level where you had to collect anything, so I don't know what happens to those things when you die.
The levels progress fairly well. I found the first 11 levels fairly straightforward but the 12th one stumped me. It took a lot of tries to finally beat that level. After that I was able to power on to the 18th level before completing this review.
I did find it a little strange that the game is played vertically but all the menus are horizontal. When you first start the program you have to rotate your iphone, but when you start playing you have to rotate it again.
This is a quick fun game to play if you have a couple of seconds waiting for something. At $0.99 you'll probably get your money's worth with this game but there is a lite version that contains the first 7 levels in case you're not quite sure.
