There is no shortage of twitter applications on the iPhone. There is an app for practically any type of twitter user. Some offer a wealth of features while other attempt to create the smoothest experience possible. Brizzly is a twitter application for the iPhone and iPod Touch which actually started out as a different application. The original name was Birdfeed and it was known not for its features, but it's speed and simplicity. But since the recent acquisition, the app seems to have lost much of what made it unique. The new Brizzly app has added a tab bar at the bottom of the screen for quick links which will immediately disappoint original Birdfeed users.

As a twitter app, all the standard features are present such as a section for @mentions, direct messages, and the user's home page. But aside from a few other features, there isn't anything that will make this app stand out. Since the change, the app is now moving much slower than its earlier counterpart and even occasionally crashed on my 3GS.

Overall, the app seems to have taken a step backwards in design. Perhaps the one positive thing that can be said is the fact that the price has also taken a step back. It's available for free in the app store so check it out and see for yourself.
