Camera Genius is an application that adds six features to the iPhone’s camera. These include Zoom, Sound Capture, Anti-Shake, Big Button, Guides, and Timer. Most of them work very well and serve their purpose, but there are a few that can be frustrating at times.
First of all, the interface of the app is very smooth. The center button takes the picture, the right button opens your photo library, and the left button directs you to your desired feature. It looks sleek, and I haven't yet performed something I didn’t mean to while navigating through it.
The first and most requested feature that this app showcases is Zoom. Choosing this option presents you with a scroll bar to tweak the distance of your zoom. Since the iPhone lacks an optical zoom, a digital zoom is used, which unfortunately doesn’t result in the greatest picture quality.
The Sound Capture feature analyzes the volume of your surroundings and then sets a bar on the visual volume meter a little ahead of what the current volume is. When a sound is loud enough to surpass this bar, the picture is snapped.
Anti-Shake displays a similar meter, but this one measures the movement of your device. Once you click the camera button, a picture isn’t taken until there is very little or no movement of the device. It might take a while for the picture to be taken, but the quality is well worth the wait.
Big Button turns the whole screen into a capture button. The Guides option presents you with several different options of lines to line up your shot perfectly. Both of these work nicely and help you take awesome shots.
Last but not least, Timer presents you with a digital countdown that can be adjusted from two to 30 seconds. Press the camera button and the timer counts down as you get into the shot and get everyone ready.
All of these features add a lot of use to the iPhone’s exceptional camera. Multiple features can be chosen for one picture, and the camera guides will help you with any feature you’re confused about and will also offer you some good tips on how to take the perfect shot. At its dirt-cheap price, I highly recommend purchasing it.
