Clipboard Manager and History is an app for the iPhone & iPod Touch that allows you to organize all of your copied texts and urls in one location. You can browse all your copied information by date created and quickly paste them into another application. It's a simple but useful app that has some drawbacks as well.

Before you even open the app, you should go ahead and copy some text from an application on your device. Obviously, this can only be done on the new OS 3.0 software. Once you've copied something, open up Clipboard Manager and your text will automatically get pasted into the app, marked with the current date. This is the first neat feature of the app. If you wanted to paste information into the iPhone's notes app, you would have to manually paste it in, but Clipboard Manager does that for you. It would be nice if it automatically gathered everything you copied without actually opening the app, but Apple does not allow this.

The app is also supposed to recognize if you are pasting in simple text or a url but I could not get this feature to work properly. I tried pasting in urls that started with "www" and ones that started with "http", but neither worked. Supposedly you click on a url and the link will open in Safari.

Once text is pasted into the app, they are there permanently unless you manually delete each one. From the app, you can tap on an entry and it will be copied to the clipboard, ready to paste into any other application on your device. This is the nice part about the app.

For example, if you have a tracking number for a package, you can copy it to Clipboard Manager and always have it available to paste into a website to track your shipment multiple times. You can also email your entries. Currently the app quits out to the mail app, but the next update will include in-app email. Another drawback to the app is the lack of search. If you have many entires in the clipboard, the only way to find what you want is to scroll through all of them.

This app definitely solves a problem on the iPhone & iPod Touch. There are many times when I have had multiple items I would like to paste into other apps. For quick access, the iPhone's notes app is an easy choice to solve this problem. The Clipboard Manager isn't really all that better than the notes app. Yes, it will automatically paste in text when you open the app, and when it comes out with the update, it will allow in-app emailing of copied text. But, I don't know if that justifies taking up another app space on my iPhone. That being said, Clipboard Manager is really a nice app that could definitely work for you if you are a copy/paste fanatic. But, if you only use copy/paste minimally, you might want to pass on this and stick with the iPhone's notes application.
