Colorchange is a paint testing app for the iphone and ipod touch. The idea of the app is to provide users with a way to preview different colors schemes on a wall in their home. The app will have you pick a color and select, using different tools, the area to change. Users can take a picture or pick one from their photo library to use. Once a picture is selected, the program will load it along with some tools to help users get the look they are trying to achieve. When the picture is loaded, the default tool selected is the magic tool. The magic tool is very similar to the wand selection tool in photoshop for you graphic designers out there. It will select a portion of the photo with similar color automatically.

Once you have done that, you can then refine your selection with a polygon tool, paintbrush tool, and an eraser tool. Using the pain bucket to select colors, users can set the hue, saturation, brightness and opacity of the color that it being displayed. Once finished, users can also select the color and get info that can be taken to a paint mixer. There are a few issues that come up with this app. One is that the program has a hard time in low light situations and will sometimes cause more trouble than help. Also, being from a picture, it will be hard to match how a color will truly look in real life rendering the color information useless.
If you need a quick reference of whether to go with green or blue, this app is great. But discerning between different shade will be much harder. For those of you who know photoshop, you're probably laughing at this app anyways, but for the casual users with no photo-manipulation expertise, it may be a worthwhile purchase.
