Command and Conquer: Red Alert is one of those pc RTS games that almost any rts fan has played. The game was released in 1996 under the advertising that it had some of the most advanced controls of any RTS. That was mostly true at the time and now it looks like it may come true again as the classic RTS can now be controlled with a touch screen.
The game is not a direct port of the original but a reinvention of the game specifically for the iPhone. Units can still be grouped and different buildings erected, but there is a lot that is missing from the game as well. Players can work through two different campaigns based on the different factions as well as play a skirmish against the CPU. There is no multiplayer available which is a large issue considering it's an RTS.
The controls worked perfectly but the game was not without it's flaws. The first very noticeable problem for me was that the game a very sluggish overall. Units and animations were slow and unresponsive. The game has also received a ton of reports that it crashes though I never had the problem myself.
Overall, the game definitely has a nostalgic feel to it as you get to relive some great C&C moments. But the price ends up being a little too high in the end after they ask for you to pay extra money for more maps. I recommend checking it out if you love RTS games, but don't expect the same gameplay that can be found on a pc.
