CraigSearch is a handy app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that let?s you search through Craigslist very easily from any location. This app isn?t flashy but it does offer fast access to the entire Craiglist website in the palm of your hand.
The app is broken down into two different tabs, search and results. The search tab is where you?ll start and provides you with a few fields to fill out. The top field is the location of where you want to search. You?ll have to be familiar with the areas that Craigslist focuses as you unfortunately can?t search by state, but chances are this isn?t your first time browsing through Craigslist. The second field you need to fill out is the category and sub-category area. You don?t need to select a sub-category but if you?re looking for something specific it?s usually the best way to find it. When you?ve filled all that out, press the big search button and you?re ready to go.
Here you can enter in what you?re searching for, toggle to search only in the titles, if it has an image, and even set a price range. Once you?ve completed that, press the search button again and you?ll be brought over to the results tab. Here you?ll see a list of all the results that coincide with your search term. Just like the real Craigslist, not all of the results will be exactly what you?re looking for, but they?re usually related. Tapping on any of the results will bring you to a formatted page where you can read all the info. There are two buttons for you to work with. The first button allows you to send an email to the person who made the post. The to field and subject are all filled out for you, making it very easy to use. A link to the exact post would be a great addition to this email so you could change the to field and send it to a friend. The other button allows you to view the original post within the app itself.
CraigSearch is a really useful app for searching Craigslist. It is light on the features, but considering that it?s free and does all the basics exceptionally well, it?s definitely one of the better Craigslist based apps. Definitely check out CraigSearch.
