Years ago when video game consoles still had mascots, every mascot seemed to at least attempt to be like the other one in at least one game. Unfortunately for Sony, their attempt to make Crash Bandicoot as likable as Super Mario resulted in more flop titles then good ones. But when you stop comparing games like Crash Kart to Mario Kart, you get an overall enjoyable experience.
The game does a pretty solid job on utilizing the 3D graphics engine of the iPhone. There are some 2D sprites in the game that make it a little bit awkward, but they aren't that big of a deal overall. The sound is on par with the other Crash games, giving those of you who have played other iterations of this game or other Crash games a nostalgic feel.
Crash Kart offers a lot of game play options.
You can do a quick race whenever you like, or you can go into the actual game and enter the Tutorial, Cup, Story or Time Trial modes to test your skill. All of this progress is recorded and can be erased if you want to go back through it by heading over to the settings menu. You can also adjust the accelerometer in the settings are too.
This is another game that controls your acceleration for you and just has you focusing on moving left and right. Tapping the screen will have you jump while holding the screen will put you into a skid when you take a turn. Crash Kart is really enjoyable overall, making it a fun to play iPhone app. If you're big into gaming on your iPhone, this is a must have title.
