Crazy Penguin Catapult 2 is the sequel to a really fun game developed by Digital Chocolate. The entire object of the game is to catapult penguins towards unsuspecting polar bears in attempt to hit them. I'm sure there is a deeper storyline buried somewhere in the game, but it was hard to pick out when playing. For those of you who haven't played the first game, this is how it works. As far as gameplay goes, not much has actually changed. There are still two different sections of play.
The first is launching the penguins. Players must time their pull correctly to launch penguins through the little gap in the ice towards the bears. The more successful launches, the more penguins players will have to use in the next round.
Once the launching is finished. The player will then go to the landing section of the game where penguins in flight will be dropped onto the bears. Throughout the progression of the game, players will earn the option to select different upgrades for their penguins that will have different effects on the gameplay. This formula for a game is definitely an addicting one, but it is not without its issues. The game is essentially a puzzle game and as such requires planning and strategy.
But I found myself getting bored when the animations would go a bit too slow and would cause me to wait for the penguins to finish their run. I also had an issue with the music which often became annoying and a bit too upbeat and loud for the type of game I was playing so I ended up turning it off.
Don't get me wrong, the game is really quite entertaining, but it is not without its annoyances. The great thing is that there is a free version to test out before shelling out the cash, so I'd recommend trying it out first and then moving one to the full version once you know how it works.
