Defender Chronicles is one of the latest tower defense game to hit the appstore. Distributed by Chillingo, the game is one of the better tower defense games as of late and brings some interesting elements to the exhaustive collection of titles available. Unlike some tower defense games, this version gives players fixed areas to place their defenses, so choosing the right one for the area is crucial. There are six different types of defenders to choose from, giving players a large selection to get just the right combination to get the job done. Also included in this game is an upgrade system not unlike many RPG games. Each completed mission provides the player with stars that can be used to upgrade the your hero as well as to unlock 8 other secrets offered. The game presents really well and really had a smooth interface, almost never getting in the way of my gameplay.

With 4 different difficulties to play on and 5 different levels bring there own unique strategies to the table, this game will keep you going for quite a while. Not to mention the 5 different game modes that can be played through as well. Some of the only complaints I came up with about this game is the voice over work which seems curiously Swedish (forgive me if I'm wrong). It sometimes ruined my experience as the characters would randomly shout all the time. I ended up turning that feature off.

Overall, Defender Chronicles is a solid tower defense game that deserves some recognition as such. With a nice price and plenty of content, it may just end up being the tower defense of choice for a while. Check it out.
