Dimensions is another measuring app for the iPhone. Unlike all the previous measure apps that just seem to use the screen to put an image and call it a ruler, Dimensions offers 7 different measuring tools to help you figure out the exact dimensions of whatever it is you've decided to measure.
The tools that you have to work with are calipers, a ruler, flexible tape measure, a room sized tape measure, a long tape measure, a measuring wheel for distances 80ft to 1 mile, a pedometer based on GPS. Opening up the app shows you a took kit with each of these tools in it. Tapping on any of them will bring you to another screen with the tool ready to go. There's a bubble in the bottom left that if you press it will allow you to return to the toolkit.
Each of the tools operates a little differently.
Some of them require you to take a picture and judge the distance based on a few tools it offers. Others are just meant to be held up against an object and used for the measuring device on the screen. Having multiple tools in one makes this app that much better than the other measuring apps, but it still can't offer great accuracy on anything that doesn't involve using the iPhone as a ruler.
Dimensions brings something new to the table and is fairly handy, but a lot of the tools in this specific app seem to repeat themselves. You don't really need to differentiate between different types of rulers when you're not actually holding them. Unless the fabric ruler allows the iPhone to bend around your body as you use it. Forget this app, but a ruler.
