Dinky Ball is a highly addictive arcade game from Pirogue Studio SARL. The main objective of the game is to navigate your ball through each course into the finish cube. You’ll face a variety of obstacles, such as a bouncing surface, a surface that slows you down, and a surface that speeds you up.

The graphics are simplistic, yet colorful and somewhat entertaining. It would have been nice to see more ingenuity put into it, but the game is really more about gameplay and not graphics.

Control is handled through accelerometer-based tilt controls. The sensitivity takes a little getting used to, but all in all, it is fairly intuitive. You can also touch anywhere to jump when necessary. The controls are pretty easy to catch on to, and if you play a lot of iPhone games, then it’ll be very natural.

The background music is somewhat decent; it’s just a little bland for my taste. It’s energetic enough to build some tension but not enough to detract from the overall fast-paced fun experience.

In spite of the creativity built into each level, your ball basically just takes you through the same circular pattern. After a while, it seems relatively repetitive, and some amount of variation would be greatly welcomed in a future update.

There’s not much to be said about this app; if you’re looking for an addicting, enjoyable game to play when you have a spare minute or two, then it’s fantastic. If you’re looking for more depth, then this might not be the app for you. Currently, there are 60 levels and a promising three hours plus of game-play. It’s a game that is brilliant in its simplicity, and well worth the measly price tag.
