I haven't talked to many people who aren't at least a little entertained by the game Galaga. It defined a whole style of gameplay and spawned some of the most fun arcade games to date. Doodle Flight is another game that is taking the vertical shooter formula and applying it to paper-drawn graphics. Just like many other apps on the iPhone, this game brings crazy cartoon character into a shooting frenzy and makes for some really fun times.
This app is the basic formula still, dodge, shoot, get powerup, fight boss. But it has added some interesting features to keep the style fresh. Users can draw their own ship. Anything the player can think of can become the ship that deals the death in this game.
The game also has some weird enemies that would almost pass as your friends if they weren't shooting bullet points of doom at you. The boss battles are just as crazy as you would expect and, on harder levels, were nearly impossible. There are two ways to play the game, you can either use touch or tilt. I found both had their pros and cons but overall, touch was my style of choice. The music was catchy at first but I had to turn it off because it grew annoying really quickly.
The developers seem to be consistently updating this app with new features so it is definitely one to keep an eye on. For a cool price and an surprisingly difficult and fun game, this app is definitely worth grabbing. Check it out.
