Dr. Awesome, Microsurgeon M.D. is a game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that puts you in the shoes of a young doctor attempting to save the lives of everyone he knows. This is a highly addicting game that does a great job of personalizing each persons experience with it.
The way you play this game is fairly simple. You control a micro scalpel through the use of your devices accelerometer. The sensitivity on this is great, allowing you to make some really close and fast turns. Your objective is to isolate the viruses floating around in each cell by creating a connecting line from cell wall to cell wall. To complete each level you?ll need to isolate the virus in no more than 25% of the remaining cell structure before time runs out.
At first, this game is really simple. The progression goes at a decent pace so there?s really no need for a tutorial mode. As you increase in rank, things begin to get a lot more difficult. Some of the larger viruses begin to shoot missiles at you while you try and dodge the microscopic pterodactyls that are chasing behind your micro scalpel. If any of these things hit you or if the viruses hit your line, you?ll loose a good chunk of time and have to try and cut that piece out again. Add in the fact that there are power ups to help you out when things get tricky, and just maybe you?ll have a chance of making it all the way to the end.
Dr. Awesome also pulls in your contact list from your device so that the patients you?re saving have familiar names. This is a cool approach to incorporating more parts of your device into an app. With so many levels, an achievements system, and such a high replay value be prepared to spend a good deal of time playing this game. At such a low price, you really can?t go wrong buying Dr. Awesome, Microsurgeon M.D..
