SUMMARY: An interesting line drawing physics game centered around an alien sphere

Draw ‘n’ GO! is a line drawing physics game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. In this game, you must draw lines to help get the alien sphere from one area to another. Using special “space null” gravity, the alien will drop and bounce on the lines you’ve created. This special gravity makes things very bouncy, making it seem like there is almost no gravity at all. It’s a solid concept with great graphics, music and sound. However, the bounciness gets to be a little too much to handle at times.

The alien sphere will always start in a high position on the screen. Using gravity and lines that you create, you must get the alien to a specified container somewhere at the bottom of the screen. Your lines must be drawn around obstacles that the alien can also bounce off of. You only get a limited amount of lines to draw and the less lines you use, the higher the points. After you draw your lines, you can push play to drop the alien and hope he bounces where he’s supposed to bounce. If it doesn’t work out, you can try again an unlimited amount of times. However, you’ll need to redraw your entire line path instead of just erasing a portion of it. This becomes incredibly frustrating, as you’ll be redrawing the lines multiple times until you get it right. The whole process is trial and error.

The game really does look great. The artwork is beautiful and the music and sound fit well into the game. The biggest problem with this title is the actual physics. The ball bounces way too much, and it seems to pick up energy if it hits an obstacle at a specific angle. I understand that the game is using special “space null” gravity instead of real gravity physics. However, the bouncing is truly irritating. You’ll be more frustrated than anything else while playing this game. It’s just not fun. It’s actually a shame, because the game’s concept is very intriguing. If the developer tones down the physics a bit, it could be a real winner. There is an update in the works, so we’ll see what happens. However, as it stands at the time of this review, there is no way I can recommend this frustrating game to anyone. Instead, I would keep an eye out for the update and check the reviews then.
