Dungeon Defense is a game that breathes new life into the tower defense genre. After playing Fieldrunners when it first came out, I couldn't get enough of tower defense games. I was an instant addict. I've downloaded and played almost every TD game in the app store and this game is a welcome addition.
When you start Dungeon Defense you're given two basic options: start and resume. Pressing resume will continue a game that you already have in progress and start will begin anew. Once you choose start, you'll be given the option of three different game maps to choose from and three levels of difficulty. All three maps are completely different and will require different strategies to beat.
Unlike most tower defense games, in Dungeon Defense there are no "towers." Instead there are several spawn points in which you can can place three types of animated warrior skeletons. You only have three choices: swordsman, archer, and axeman. Each vary in price and strength. In the beginning of each game you are given 200 gold. This will give you enough to buy two swordsmen. This is all you'll need in the beginning to start killing the heroes that will lay siege on your dungeon in wave after wave. In typical tower defense fashion, after each enemy is defeated you will earn more gold. This gold can be used to buy more skeletal troops or upgrade the ones you currently have. Each skeleton can be upgraded three times and the final upgrade results in a unique power skill. The object of the game is to place and upgrade as many skeletons on the map as necessary to protect your dungeon king or the blood orb from the hordes of heroes that will try to overtake them.
Dungeon Defense is a great addition to the tower defense games. If you like tower defense games like 7 Cities and Fieldrunners, you will enjoy this game as well.
