Edge Browser is a web browsing app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The purpose of this app is to allow you full visibility when surfing the web. Besides the notification bar at the top of the screen, all you?ll see with this app is the website you wish to view.
This app is difficult to use but has a lot of potential if things are added to it down the line. First off, there?s no address bar, no forward or back button, and no other features. That means that the only way you can view a website is by going through the settings app and entering in the url you want to visit through there. If that site requires a username or password, you can enter it in there as well.
This is kind of a restrictive way to view web pages, but the added real estate that you get to see is quite impressive. It would be more impressive if you could simply shake your phone or swipe in a certain pattern to have all those prompts appear on the app itself. Perhaps a really well thought out gesture system. Unfortunately, at its current point, the app just shows you the website you?ve chosen to load up in full screen with no controls at all.
This app is great for people using analytics or continuously going to one site that they know pretty well. It does work in landscape mode, but that isn?t enough to convince you to stop using Safari. All it takes is hitting one wrong link and you?ll have to exit the browser and reload it to your start page or a new page completely.
