Eyemobile is a news and reporting app supported by the CBS news network. It encourages individuals to not only keep up to speed with the news that is happening around the world submitted by other users, but also to submit their own news as it happens in the world around them.
When you load up the app there are two options: Report or Read. Register for a report account, because there's really no reason to use this app just to read through other news stories. Once you've done that you're free to take pictures and upload them for everyone to see. You can even write a little snippet with the news piece and categorize it as well.
The reading section is very awkward.
It feels like a lot of people actually abused the entire system and started posting random pictures (e.g.:a new tattoo) and not a lot of real news. There's not a whole lot of reason to read through this news when you could just use the New York Times app. If it was better policed it could be a really useful source for local and amateur news.
Eyemobile encourages you to be a news reporter with your iPhone. Not necessarily the best piece of equipment to pull the job off. This hasn't stopped some people, but it has encouraged other people to post random unrelated information to the app. The concept is interesting but the delivery lacks any form of filtering, so you're more often than not stuck with a junk article getting more views then your real news.
