SUMMARY: A great classic style RPG that allows you to play as good or evil

Fantasy Warrior is a great RPG that allows you to choose to play the game as a good or evil character. The game plays like a classic console RPG with great controls, simple graphics and most importantly, fun gameplay.

Before you actually start playing you’ll need to choose which side to play as. You can choose to play as Rento the warrior or Vera the vampire. Both sides are similar in gameplay but with different stories. Just as in any other RPG, you’ll need to talk to the people in town to get an idea of what is going on and what needs to be done. There is a main town where you can purchase items with gold and find out what quests you can embark on. You will be given tasks to complete such as wiping out the monsters that have invaded a certain part of the area. These quests will earn you both gold and experience points so you can level up.

The controls are very simple, consisting of a virtual thumb stick in the lower left corner of the screen and an attack button in the lower right. Moving around is done in free motion, as opposed to block by block. You can travel anywhere you’d like. I found the controls to be fluid and responsive throughout the game. However, there are slight glitches here and there that don’t take away too much from the gameplay, but do get annoying. For example, when leaving a gate to go into another area, your character will bounce around a bit like it’s stuck.

When encountering an enemy along your path, you’ll need to get close to it in order to engage battle mode. Once in battle mode, defeating the enemy mainly depends on your reaction time. You have to tap the attack button while you’re very close to the enemy, but not too close or you’ll take damage. Along the way you will obtain additional weapons to use in your battles. These extra weapons are rechargeable, so you’ll need to fight for a little while before they become available to use again. There are also health potions to give life back to your character.

The music and sound are great and really do draw you into the game as you play. The graphics are simple, but they are bright, colorful and help to make you feel as though you’re playing a classic console RPG.

Overall, Fantasy Warrior is a truly fun role-playing adventure game that will have you fighting enemies and leveling up for hours. To be honest, I was never a big fan of these types of games, but I found myself glued to my iPhone playing this one. You’ll just have the urge to keep fighting monsters so you can gain more and more experience. I highly recommend downloading this game. If you’re skeptical, there is also a free version available. Either way, you have to try it out.
