Fix It is an application for the iPhone that attempts to help solve the annoying problems of duplicate contacts and incorrect labels. It sounds like a great tool for your phone, but I'm not sure anyone really needs it.
When you first start the application, it will read your contacts information and present you with a total number of duplicates found. From the main page, you can choose to fix your duplicate contacts or fix labels. The duplicates page will display every listing you have for a contact on your phone. It organizes the list alphabetically, in sets of twenty per page. You can tap on any contact to quickly change the number, email or label that is listed or you can quickly delete a duplicate. A confirmation will appear to ask you if you’d like to delete just the duplicate or the entire contact. If you decide that you need to restore contacts that you deleted, you can shake your iPhone to bring them back. You can also bring up all the information for a specific contact for review.
The labels page will list all of you contacts alphabetically with letters surrounding the list like a border for quick access. When you tap on a contact here, the information goes full screen with options to reorder or edit labels.
All the saved changes will appear in your default contacts list on your device.
The entire interface of Fix It is very intuitive. The process of fixing labels and deleting duplicates is a smooth one and the app really does feel solid. However, it is questionable as to whether or not using Fix It is faster than just using the default contacts app on the iPhone. Everything you can do in Fix It, you can do in the address book or contacts app. Either way, you have to delete one contact at a time. So, if you have hundreds of duplicates, it can take quite a while. There is no single button to simply delete all duplicates. Maybe if it had this function, it would be beneficial, but it doesn't. I just don't see any real benefit to using this application. I simply can't justify or recommend the purchase of Fix It.
