Flight of the Amazon Queen is a game that was popular among a select group of people. The game started out on DOS and boasted a unique discovery element of gameplay that challenged its players to think outside the box. The game has now officially been ported to the iPhone and iPod Touch and is every bit as awesome as the original as far as gameplay goes.
The game follows the story of a guy named King who gets caught up in some crazy situations and has to find his way out using tools that he puts together from objects found in the room. Although in this review I don't have enough time to actually show you enough of the problem solving gameplay, you'll have to trust me that it works wonderfully. A big complaint that I did find with the game is that the controls are a bit clunk and confusing. The game was created for a mouse and the people who ported it over did not change enough of the controls to touch. Instead, players have to move a mouse around and click on buttons hoping they are doing what they want them to do. This became annoying as I would end up hearing the same piece of dialogue from the main character instead of him doing the action I wanted.
Overall, Flight of the Amazon Queen is a wonderful adventure/puzzle game that could keep you busy for hours on end. The clunky controls can get in the way but the game itself makes up for that. For a medium price, this classic game is definitely worth it to check out. But don't expect much action, this game's pace moves nice and slowly. Check it out.
