Flight Tracker Pro is an iPhone utility app that allows users to track different commercial or general aviation flight anywhere within the United States airspace. The application does not claim to be aimed towards the average traveler and because of this does not provide gate information, seating coordination or anything else related to traveling. This app is meant for the flight tracking enthusiast and is geared towards professional grade aviation tracking. So for those of you who were about to say something nasty about this app in the comments, just no I am reviewing it from an aviation perspective.

The app allows users to enter an aircraft tail number or FAA flight ID to begin tracking a specific aircraft. Once an ID or number has been entered, a tracking map of the aircraft and its current position appears. Just like Google Maps, the map is scrollable and users can pinch to zoom. There are many features entered into this app such as the immense details that can be found on a specific aircraft. You can find out who the plane is registered to as well as what type and specifications it has. The interactive map also shows weather which is nice to see what the flight is experiencing. The app is referencing the online sight fboweb.com where users can do exactly the same thing from their PC. This is where my only complaint comes in.

The app is charging a pretty hefty price (as far as iPhone pricing goes) for this app, but it is available free online. I struggled with coming up with a reason for paying the price when the full usability is available right online. But overall, the app worked excellent and gave me more data than I personally knew what to do with.
