Galaxy on Fire is a space combat game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It will offer users a chance to take control of a combat ship in deep space to complete mercenary work for the Terran Armed Forces. Using tilt, players will fly throughout the galaxy ridding the universe of aliens.
After completing a few tutorial levels, which were pretty difficult at first, the player will get to fly into the open world of the game. Defeating enemies will give players points and new energy allowing players to then customize their weapons, shields and drives. The story mode will have players powering through missions and watching a few cut scenes while waiting. The game features some really graphics-intensive gameplay and sometimes crashed my phone while playing. The music and sounds in this game are excellent really immersing the player in the game. One problem I found is that asteroids or other floating space objects will sometimes hit your ship even if you are not directly in contact with it. There is also a survival mode that challenges players to stay alive for as long as possible while waves of enemies are thrown at them.
Overall, the game looks great and the gameplay is pretty fun. The controls are a bit shaky but users have the ability to turn off tilt and turn on autofire if they want a different experience. The game is higher up on the price list but there is a free version to try out before you fork over the money for the full thing. Check it out.
