I know what you’re thinking. Gozilla. How could you go wrong? Sad to say, this app is a poor attempt at a 1v1 fighting game. It has the potential to be a great title, but it seems as though the developers just didn’t put enough thought or effort into it.
First and most notably, there is absolutely no music during game play. The sound effects are lame and completely unrealistic. When playing a Godzilla game, it is expected to have loud growls and intense strikes, but when administering a punch in this game it sounds like you’re patting him on the back rather than inflicting a fatal blow.
The battle takes place in a city similar to several scenes from the classic movies. Four attacks, a special move, and a block are all clearly showcased at the bottom of the screen. It would be great to see more attacks in the future as the ones included are bland and it seems as though you are your opponent are simply taking turns attacking each other as opposed to a gruesome and intense brawl.
A swipe base system is used as controls. Different moves can be activated by swiping your finger in different motions.
It is an alright scheme, but the moves are often irresponsive and it would be a lot more efficient to just have a few buttons.
The graphics are decent, but the animations tend to be choppy and there is only one playable course. On top of that, you can only pick from Godzilla or King Ghidorah. This along with slow gameplay just makes the game plain boring. There are little amounts of options which absolutely obliterate any replay value.
Being a Godzilla fan, I am more than disappointed in this game. With boring sound effects, no music, and ridiculously limited choices, this game is a definite pass. There is apparent potential in this game, so watch out for updates. Sadly, the app just seems like an attempt to take money from die-hard Godzilla fans like us. Save your money.
