If there ever was an app that could convince Apple to allow any app to run silently in the background, GPS Tracker would be it. This app will turn your iPhone into a tracking device that you can actually monitory directly from the Insta Mapper website.

Once you've installed the app, you'll have to head on over to the website before you can actually do anything useful with it. You need to register your iPhone as your device of choice for your profile and get the specific device code for it. Enter that in and your good to go.

Once the app starts to locate you, the information it provides is very much like Here I Am. Nothing special or anything, just the basic location based information. The real kicker for this app is that all of this information is transmitted over in real time to Insta Mapper, allowing you to monitor the movement of the device at any time. While it unfortunately won't continue to run in the background, imagine having your child check in with this app just to confirm their location?

GPS Tracker is an excellent concept that falls a little short when it comes to its use on the iPhone. Considering you can't track one iPhone from another iPhone, nor can you have it running without the person really knowing, it's mildly limited at this point. The web tracking aspect is great and could be very useful to some, but this app isn't really for everyone.
