HandShake is a contact-sharing app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that comes in two version, regular and pro. Both offer the exact same functionality and allow you to easily send your contacts to anyone with either version of this app. The only difference is one is ad supported while the other is free. With HandShake, all you need to do is create a profile based on one of your contacts. That means you should build a contact on your phone will all of your information before you use this app. Include anything that you would want to pass over to a business partner or a friend and then load up the app to select that specific contact. After you've set the app up, using it is simple.
All you need to do is to be within range of another user with this app. Once you are, you can send them your card, another contact in your book, or even a picture. There are two distance options, which seems silly considering one could just cover the maximum range. Perhaps they were hoping the adoption would be so high it would need a way to clear out those not directly around you. We've had a chance to review other contact sharing apps before, but the big issue was that they cost. This may sound like a poor reason not to get one, but the chance of an industry of people universally using an app that costs even $0.99 is slim to none. By offering a version of this app in both free and paid mode without removing any functionality, the likelihood of mass adoption for this app, especially with its name, is very high.
