Utilities » Hey Where Are You Review

Hey Where Are You is a location app that utilizes some of the newer features in the 3.0 firmware update to make it easier for you to find and share locations between iPhones. Right off the bat you are asked to create a nickname that you will be known by to other users and then from there it's jumping right into sharing your location. I decided to share my location with my friend Kyle.

After going through the email process of allowing eachother's accounts to share location data, anytime I wanted Kyle to see my location, I just clicked the button and it notifies him through the new push notifications. When Kyle sent me his location, it notifies me on my phone and then opens the app after I select view. I then am shown an embedded Google Map of his approximate location in the world along with the time and date he sent his location to me.

This is a great way to keep track of loved ones or for friends to easily meet up with each other. But overall, I still felt that it took way too much effort to find the location of my friend and there weren't enough customizations available to tailor the app to my needs. This app only works for iPhone and iPod Touches that have updated to the new 3.0 firmware.

The app is available free from the app store for a limited time so it is definitely worth trying out if not only to experience some of the newer things that the iPhone software can do. Hopefully we can see this application getting better updates and newer features that give it some real weight on the device. Check it out.

My husband and I sat right next to each other to test this app. It told us we were in different locations, about a mile apart. It placed me on a golf course, while it put my husband in the middle of a field. It didn\'t even show that we were actually in our home, located on a normal street. Not even worth it being free.
