HYBRID: Eternal Whisper is a somewhat unique game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game plays very much like a traditional RPG in that there is story-driven gameplay and skills that can be upgraded and mastered. But instead of the standard turn-based gameplay of most RPG's, HYBRID bring a side-scroller fighting aspect to the table as well, making the game a mix of action and story.

The story is a somewhat familiar setup but has some unique twists. You enter the shoes of Grey, a young assassin who is caught in the middle of a conflict between to different forces. The plotline is extremely metaphorical and sometimes hard to follow but bring plenty of depth to the game. After watching cutscenes and following the story as it progresses, you are thrown into the action with a virtual d-pad and different buttons. While fighting you can create combos which adds a nice layer to the gameplay. The game features all different kinds of items and abilities that you can upgrade during your quest.

Overall, the game ended up having quite a bit of content and played rather smooth. The storyline was compelling enough to keep going though some of the music got slightly old after hearing it for the 50th time. But it is definitely a great action rpg and at it's current price, it is a definite buy for anyone who loves the genre. Check it out.
