SUMMARY: Play virtual basketball on your iPhone or iPod Touch

SGN keeps rolling out all these interactive sports apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch. iBasketball keeps with that trend and offers the same experience we?ve grown to expect with a whole new sport.

This virtual version of basketball is a free throw game. What you do is hold your iPhone exactly like you would hold the ball. The app lines you up perfectly for the shot you need to take, but you?re able to move around and get a different angle if you?d like to. Once you?ve lined up your shot, you can actually hold your iPhone horizontally and pretend to dribble. As long as you don?t try and bounce it just once, you?ll actually dribble on the screen too.

Shooting becomes fairly difficult. Hold your phone vertically and pretend to shoot as if you were actually holding basketball. It doesn?t seem like you have as much control as you would like. The power doesn?t seem to be something you can really control as well as you would like, so most of your shots will be come up short or go way over. This can get frustrating, but you can only expect so much.

This game keeps with the same idea that we?ve seen before and does a great job of it. iBasketball is another example of a creative iPhone app that takes advantage of the devices abilities. It?s also completely free and definitely worth checking out, even if basketball isn?t your thing.
