Games » Metal Gear Solid Touch Review

Metal Gear Solid Touch is a point and shoot game for the iPhone and iPod Touch based off the popular franchise. It follows the story of an old hero who is trying to quell the efforts of an evil man and his technology. That's the best way to sum it up in one sentence without confusion. For those of you who know the Metal Gear Solid franchise, you are aware of Kojima Productions crazy attention to detail and focus on story in their games. This game is not one of those games.

The game has the setup of a traditional screen shooter, with all levels consisting of a point, shoot, duck gameplay. But I must say that it is by far the best implementation of the idea I've seen yet.

The controls are extremely fluid and coupled with some top notch sounds, really give the player a feeling of security and control. They are extremely straightforward: tap to shoot, drag to aim and pinch to zoom. This simple formula works really well. Each new level follows the story of Metal Gear Solid 4 and will have you reliving the different confrontations that were found in the plot. The environments are gritty and the soundtrack is torn right from the hit game.

A disappointing factor of the app is it's price. Extremely high for a game of it's type, it is sure to deter many and despite being really fun, it may not be worth the price being asked. Hardcore fans may as well pick it up, but those on a tighter budget, I'd really think before purchasing this.
