Now that Apple has allowed navigation apps to enter the app store we are seeing them pop up all over the place. There are a few different apps that stand out most prominently from the AT&T app with a monthly fee to the most recently released TomTom navigation app. But there is one app that has stood out from the rest so far, in my opinion, when it comes to navigation and turn by turn GPS.

MobileNavigator is an app that combines some of the best features I've seen on GPS apps and whips out a few unique ones of its own. To start, the app does not rely on an internet connection to display the map of the area. Instead, the entire area is stored right on your iPhone. This can be both exciting and annoying as it takes up a large chunk of your memory. But I think it is worth it.

Even without a data connection you can find your area and be directed to where you need to go.

The interface is almost perfect, working in both landscape and portrait layouts. The app has a voice that will tell you when to turn and was 100% accurate every single time I used it. I never even had to look at the screen if I didn't want to. There is a day and night mode as well as an option to warn you if your speed is getting too high. The app just shows a lot of thought went into it with a button designated Take Me Home that will automatically route you to your designated home address when tapped.

Perhaps one of the most interesting features is that it will display the actual sign of different restaurants and gas stations that you are passing so you will visually see them in the distance and have the option to reroute after a quick fill up or bite to eat.

There is just too much in this app to adequately review in such a short time. But if you have been looking for a GPS app, this one is definitely my app of choice.
