We previously did a review on RedLaser and described that although it was a brilliant concept, the app itself just wasn't enough to be worth downloading. It's been a while since that review was posted and Occipital, the apps creators have since updated their application to include much better performance and many useful features.
The original version had a hard time scanning and was a little confusing when it came to getting the shot to read. But even when it did read, the product would sometimes not even show any results. The new version has an autoscan feature where you activated and then line it up with the screen. Once lined up, the app then scans the web for relevant information on Amazon and Google Products.
The result is an app that can give users quick web pricing and information just by scanning a barcode. This is a huge improvement over the last one and is night and day in terms of it's usefulness. This app could be especially handy when shopping at a brick and mortar store for comparing prices.
Overall, this app is a great demonstration of where mobile shopping is heading. With the abilities that are shown in this app, more and more apps are going to start including features like this that will offer information on virtually anything we can think of. I would fully expect this app to continuing updating, so if you could use quick comparisons of product. Check this out.
