Zombie Pizza is a fun and unique puzzle game that challenges you to create pizzas for the hungry zombies waiting outside your door. If you are fast and add the right toppings, then you’ll succeed. If you get bogged down and make the zombies angry, then it’s game over. The game is fun and addicting, but needs much more content to be a real winner in the app store.

The game takes place in a pizza shop at night, while zombies line up outside to purchase great tasting pies. The pizza pies are placed on the counter while the toppings pass by on a conveyor belt. These toppings include brains, hearts, eyeballs and intestines. Your job is to drag the ingredients onto the pies to create a specific recipe. You can also flick the toppings onto your pizza, and then flick the entire pie through the slot in the door to feed the zombies. You can drag up to four ingredients onto one pie to create a recipe. Each ingredient is worth a specific amount of money, and it’s the combination of ingredients that will earn you the most cash. A cookbook will guide you in explaining the recipes. For example, placing four different toppings on one pie will only earn you the total amount of all four toppings. If you make a pie with two pairs of toppings, you’ll receive twice the amount of money. Also, a pie with four of the same topping will earn you three times the amount. The puzzle aspect of the game comes into play when you start making decisions to wait for specific toppings to create a high value pizza. If you wait too long, the zombies will break in and kill you!

You start off the game making only one pizza at a time and with only a few toppings, such as brains, hearts, eyeballs and intestines. As you progress, the toppings will come out faster and you’ll be challenged with two and three pies to make at the same time. At times, you will be given special orders to make, which the zombies will gladly pay top dollar for. To earn the most money in a level, you’ll need to create the highest value pizzas in the fastest time possible. Each level starts at night, and as time passes by the level will end when daylight hits.

At the end of each level, you are scored and awarded a bronze, silver or gold medal based on how much money you made during your shift. Make enough money and you’ll be promoted. There are plenty of levels to play through, but each one is very short and it feels like the whole game only lasts a short while. This is probably the only major problem with the game. There isn’t enough content to keep you playing. Once you’ve achieved a gold medal in each level, there really isn’t much more to do.

Controls, graphics and sound are all done very well in Zombie Pizza. Dragging the toppings onto the pies and flicking them through the door slot feels completely smooth. The hand-drawn design of the pizza shop is top notch. The sound and music really add to the eerie feeling of having zombies impatiently waiting on the other side of the door. The toppings are animated and graphical details are evident throughout. The whole concept of zombies and pizza is a creative one and it definitely succeeds in creating a fun puzzle experience. I’m sure more content will come out in subsequent updates, but regardless, Zombie Pizza is a fun and entertaining title that you won’t regret buying.
