IRChon is an IRC app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This app is pretty simple in most aspects but does allow for a quick and easy connection to the world of IRC.
The app defaults to two servers when you load it up (UEI and Krono.net) but you can always add your own. Once you add the server and set it online, you can go back to the main page and see all the channels that are available for you to join. At the bottom of the entire app there is a banner ad that does switch quite a bit, but that?s the way these developers have chosen to keep this app free.
When you select a channel, you?ll be able to chat with all the other users in it.
By tapping on the users button at the top right of the screen, you can see a users list but you can?t direct chat with any of them. This app only works in portrait mode and for some weird reason new messages post to the top of the screen. This is really frustrating as no other client operates this way.
There are currently more advanced IRC clients out there that make it difficult to justify using this app. While it is free, you?ll probably become frustrated with this app, so don?t bother downloading it.
