Photography » ITake-5 Review

The iPhone is not slacking in the camera apps department and it will come as no surprise that we've yet another app to review. iTake-5 has a goal to solve your photo coloration problems with easy steps and no hassle. The app tried to serve as either a camera replacement or just an app that will touch up photos for you on the fly.

The idea is pretty simple. Take a picture with your phone and iTake-5 will generate versions of that photo in pairs. The uses then chooses which photo they like better and it will generate another comparison. Keep picking which one looks better and hopefully after selecting the last choice, you will have an optimized photo.

After put into practice, the app doesn't really seem to change enough and is a big too time consuming to change photos on the fly. The app will sometimes get annoying with all the sound effects that it generates. They can't be turned off without disabling the sound switch on your phone.

The interface did run smooth, but for what it is claiming to do, the differences were just too minuscule to satisfy the average iPhone user. Those looking for a quick color correction may find happiness in this app, but for the price being asked, I'd recommend checking out some of the other photo apps we have reviewed and see what more they can provide on top of this simple service. There is just not enough content and the process doesn't seem to really make too big of a difference in the outcome. Coupled with the annoying sound effects, this is just an app with a good idea, good interface but poor execution. I recommend passing.
