Once again we return to the puzzle genre in an iPhone review. These apps are all over the place and it honestly takes a lot for a game to stand out among the heaps of contenders. LandFormer is definitely one of those apps and has proven itself to be among one of the better designed puzzlers for the device. The app is pretty unique in its approach to puzzles.
There are no gems, targets, or numbers. The entire game is essentially designed around the idea of solving landscaping problems. The goal is to make the land flat in a minimal amount of turns. To do this, you are given a set amount of shapes that will control whether the land will be raised or lowered. If the landscape is flattened in the required amount of turns, the player wins the round. Starting out, the game is intriguing, and going deeper into it, the game is maddening.
This is a perfect formula for a puzzle app. The combination of the different tools and patterns make this game extremely hard to master and the sounds help to really provide a true atmosphere for thinking. If you like puzzlers, definitely check this out. It’s free in the app store, but you’ll have to pay a fee to unlock any levels other than the beginners set.
