It has finally arrived, and for all you football fans, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Madden has finally made it to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Many gamers have been counting down the days to this release and now it is here. But does it live up to the hype? The game features a full roster and a season play that offers players the chance to trade, sign and release players as well as get depth chart for detailed information. Players can see the individual stats of every player on every team in the season so they can make calculated decisions on how they want to build their team.
But even though this game has given plenty of depth and options, I still struggled with one aspect of the game, the gameplay itself. The controls are handled by an on-screen joystick and different virtual buttons that will provide many options.
These were all fine and dandy until I tried making a play. The gameplay feels slightly sluggish and unresponsive which immediately turned me off to the game. I just couldn't get used to it and too many times I found myself feeling like I don't have full control of my players.
Other than that though, the game is surprisingly detailed. It has so many features that hardcore football fans might actually be able to overlook the mediocre gameplay. Add that to the fact that the game features out of place heavy metal as the background music, and you have a game that is well-made but just a bit off kilter in some areas. Check it out while it's still on sale.
