Check out appoLearning.com, because your kids deserve the very best educational apps!
MakeUseOf.com is a great site where tech geeks and nerds can get their daily dose of technology-related tips, tricks and how-to guides. Now, all of this content is available on your iPhone or iPod Touch in a polished UI that’s intuitive and functional.
The app is basically a really nice RSS feed reader that pulls content from MakeUseOf.com. You can easily customize the content by selecting only the feeds you want to see. There are several feeds to choose from including geeky fun, cool software and how-to tips. MakeUseOf.com staffers write each article, so it has content you won’t find anywhere else. Being a tech enthusiast myself, I found the articles and topics to be very interesting and useful, especially all the how-to guides.
The user interface is really what makes this app a pleasure to use. The feeds are separate cards that you can swipe left and right through. Each card displays several articles that you can tap on to read. I found the text to be a comfortable size, but if it’s too small you can easily increase it in the settings page. If anyone has commented on an article, you can read them by tapping the comments button at the bottom of the screen. However, you can’t actually post a comment yourself. This is definitely a disappointing aspect of the app. After reading the article you have the option to share it via email, Facebook and Twitter. You can also add articles to your favorites page for later viewing.
The only other feature I would like to see added is support for Instapaper. Other than that, this is absolutely a fantastic application for anyone interested in technology. If you’re still not sure what MakeUseOf is all about, just visit their website and you’ll gain a better understanding of the type of content you’ll be getting. If you like the content, you’ll love the app.
